Located in historic New Haven, Connecticut – a dynamic community that blends the character and cultural richness of a college town with the diverse population and excitement of a large city Yale-New Haven Hospital is a 944-bed tertiary care facility with an international reputation for advanced care and leading-edge research. Our state-of-the-art facilities include Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital, Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, Shoreline Medical Center in Guilford, CT, and a brand new, 14-story Clinical Cancer Center scheduled to open in 2009.
Recent nursing graduates enjoy access to a wide variety of custom-designed orientation programs at Yale-New Haven Hospital, including extended orientations and internships in Med/Surg, Labor and Birth, Oncology, Newborn ICU, Pediatric ICU, ICU/ED and Perioperative Nursing. We also provide each new member of our team with a comprehensive competency-, preceptor- and criteria-based orientation to ensure that they have the expertise and knowledge to deliver world-class care. In addition, we offer student nurses the opportunity to experience the world of professional nursing through our dynamic Student Nurse Assistant Program.
Yale-New Haven Hospital is also committed to providing allied health students and new graduates with the support and opportunities to begin a rewarding career. We offer the only accredited Radiation Therapy Residency Program in CT; the first Social Work Clinical Advancement Program in CT; post-graduate training for Pharmacy students; and a wide variety of allied health shadow opportunities.
